Brazilian-born pianist, composer and arranger, Sérgio Mendes brought bossa nova music to a global audience in the 1960s. Mendes' ensemble, the Brasil ’66, burst onto the U.S. pop charts in 1966. He remained a force in popular music for more than six decades, releasing 35 albums, and winning three Grammys. Mendes died on Thursday in Los Angeles. We're featuring his music on these channels.
