As Heard On TV: Hits Used in Commercials
It might sound crazy, but I’ve always been fascinated with the art of advertising and what goes into a 30-second TV spot - which includes, more and more these days, classic hit songs from our lifetimes. If you’re watching TV, you know there’s no shortage of commercials featuring hits of the 80s and 90s.

Ice Cream Parlor Oldies
As the weather gets warmer and lines get longer at ice cream/frozen yogurt stores, the time seems right to enjoy the happy, upbeat sounds of the 60s, which remain the soundtrack of many ice cream parlors. With this channel, I’ve tried to recapture the joy of that experience. Besides, it was a great excuse to do some on-site research!

BritKast
From the first time I discovered the Billboard magazine’s “Hits of the World” chart page, I sought out songs that never crossed the pond to the U.S., whether on college FM stations or record stores that carried import 45s. These days, hearing those hits is a lot easier thanks to the internet, and I’ve attempted to make it even easier with this channel of current and recent hits overseas.

Big Bright Spring
There’s something about music that reflects the feeling of this time of year. For me, that’s meant not just spring's budding flowers and warmer temperatures (and, ok, the allergies), but also songs with the feel of the season and a promise of better days ahead.
