Les Misérables' Broadway premiere (3/12/87)

Les Misérables made its Broadway premiere on March 12, 1987, after wildly successful productions in Paris and London. After 6,680 performances in sixteen years, when it closed in 2003, it was the second-longest-running Broadway musical after Cats. It was surpassed by The Phantom of the Opera in 2006.
